We have now travelled about 500 miles south west of Cairo. Yesterday we visited the Black Desert and then camped over night in the White Desert. Both deserts had a dark yellow sand which were covered with Limestone rocks in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. In the Black Desert, however, the limestone has turned jet black from volcanic activity 65 million years ago. The only sign of activity now was the artesian hot spring we swam in this morning.
